I thought this was gonna be a death metal song for some reason. Still, pleasantly surprised. 2:10, amazing synthwork. Kinda wish the (temporary) lead wasn't side-chained too, but it fits the genre I s'pose.

Yeah, the sidechaining was a dilemma for me in this track. Wasnt quite sure if I wanted to go with the heavy sidechain in the little synthwave-ish part. On the other hand, I thought this part sounded too disconnected if I used a softer sidechain. Ill try to improve my sidechaining in upcoming projects!

This'd make a great character theme. Kinda has an Earthbound vibe.

Now this feels more like a depression tune. I hope I'm lining this up with the right artist. Otherwise ignore this comment. Nice pitch bendy basses.

I wonder how this'd sound without the drums and a softer bass... ;-)

I think you are right. But I also think it's really hard to talk about happiness without touching depression. I'll remove the bass and drums and see how it sounds, if I like it I might release a remix :)

Kinda reminds me of Actraiser / Soulblazer samples. Am I off? This is pretty well composed and the chip-struments are good.

I'm actually not familiar with the series. I made this a long time ago using FL studio presets lol. I wanted to make something that sounded cool with double bass drum and a strong bass guitar.

[Inktober #28 - The Groove, The Search]

Annunciation and inflection feels a bit rough at parts. But I struggle to speak normally. So I can't really cast stones there.

Side note: this reminds me of Massive Attack big time. Nice work.

Thanks for the feedback. Annunciation is definitely one thing I still need to improve on, seems to be part accentual and part physical - just don't have the ideal jaw for optimal articulation, but there's a lot of great artists out there who manage even with some real kind of speech impediment. I'll get there!

Loving that ambience at the start. Ruh roh - spooky vibes... Nice down-tempo distortion!
0:43 is cool. Sample-work here is not too shabby. 1:43 is a good breakdown/transition.
1:52 good countermelody section!
2:08...love that german pluck...can't remember the name of that instrument atm.
